The Annual AHI Congress was held in October 2015 in George, Western Cape. This year’s theme was “The Role of Business in Local Government and Local Economic Development”. The George Chamber of Commerce led by Dr. Willie Cilliers and his team hosted the congress.

The AHI Head Office headed by Marieta van Zyl, The Local Municipality George, Western Cape government and other sponsors such as ABSA, Auto & General and Sanlam made a huge effort to present the conference successful. The local organizer was Terra Firma Werner Rall and his team at the helm.

Quite a few local sponsors also contributed to Congress’s success. There was great interest in the Southern Cape and other parts of the country. Media24, the SABC and Eden FM wide publicity area.
The main outcomes of the World Café workshop are:

1. The AHI must continue to be the bridge between the community, Chamber of Commerce and the local government
2. The AHI must create opportunities to connect to build mutual trust and to form partnerships

One of the AHI’s main partners, the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) were present. Eskom, the Industrial Development Corporation, SAQA and SARS were also represented.

Thanks to each of the 41 chambers from each province who attended the Congress enthusiastically.
