Our Member Offering
Joining the SBI affiliates you with a powerful organisation representing you to ministers, parliament and big business through our membership in Business Unity South Africa(BUSA). You will receive our newsletters and alerts as we navigate together the challenges facing members to start, run and grow their businesses.
We offer:

High-level discussion platforms: Members have the chance to sign up for our SMEIndabas before seats go on sale to the public. We host five indabas in cities around South Africa. Members benefit from the insight of keynote speakers and panelists and interactions to challenge the status quo. This year we are expanding into townships and rural South Africa to listen to our chamber members, SMEs and entrepreneurs in Town Hall meetings.

Information and knowledge: In addition to sharing the ‘news you can use’, SBI commissions and monitors the latest research so members can make informed decisions and manage business risk.

A seat at the table: As the ‘big voice for small business’ we have strengthened our board and allocated portfolios of expertise. Specialists in government, business sectors, communications, member liaison, fundraising, research and advocacy and more will represent you when regulations or legislation get in the way of economic growth, inclusivity, transformation and especially job creation. We will focus particularly on reducing red tape, the supply of financing, and opening up access to markets.

Your opinion matters: Members will be surveyed when we conduct our research to provide an evidence-based understanding of the size, nature and characteristics of small firms operating in South Africa. In turn we will promote more effective our public positions on all matters concerning small business in the country’s public policy debates.

Access to specialised knowledge: Members can tap the expertise within the SBI through networks such as the SBI’s desks of expertise, and regional and sector-focused structures.

Unlocking business opportunities for growth: Through GrowSA, members can access an electronic platform service aimed at marketing businesses locally, nationally and internationally as well as linking to suppliers and clients in the virtual space.
