September is Heritage month, and Heritage Day was celebrated on 24 September.
So far, this month has seen exciting breakthroughs that will set the AHI on an even firmer path.

Herewith some of the highlights:

1. Wonderful visit to Hoedspruit.
The chairperson of the Hoedspruit Business Chamber is Patrick Jordan, a young man aged 32! I was highly impressed with his drive and energy. The day was celebrated with a braai and food competition, dancing and a snake-handling performance. One of the initiatives following my visit is to explore the possibility of connecting the Lowfeld and Kruger National Park with Cape Town tourism to offer an improved experience to tourists. What an exciting idea!!

2. A Highly successful AHi Western Cape Congress.
On Friday 23 September the AHI Western Cape Congress was held just outside Paarl on the beautiful Rhebokskloof Estate. ABSA, Nedbank, Standard Bank and Old Mutual, the Western Cape Government as well as the other business chamber delegates were present. The Congress was very successful, and a new management was elected under the chairmanship of Dr Willie Cilliers from George. Prof Tommy du Plessis, former AHI President, delivered a presentation on a successful business chamber model. It was heartening to see how energetically and enthusiastically everybody participated. And afterwards we were much wiser. The main speaker was Dr Johan van Deventer, part of the Shoprite Group. He delivered a most insightful presentation on how to conduct business in difficult times. His shared some excellent tips and advice!

 5. MOU with the State of Georgia.

On 27 September, the AHI and the Georgia Business Chamber in Suid-Africa formally signed an MOU. Ambassador Dvali and Marius Heynes paid a visit to the AHI office. The MOU is aimed at unlocking business opportunities to both AHI members and businesspeople from Georgia.

6. AHI National Conference 2016.
Nearly everything is in place for the AHI National Conference which take place at Leriba Lodge, Centurion, on 20 October. We look forward to an exciting and watershed experience. We request all business chambers and members to register in time for this great opportunity to network, to acquire the latest information and to demonstrate that the AHI will in future play an even more significant role in the economy of our country. “Together we Create Sustainable Wealth” is the motto of the AHI and we are now making this a greater reality.
