Small Business Institute Mourns the Passing of Mr Pravin Gordhan
September 13 2024 will be remembered for the sadness it brought to South Africans who woke up to news of the passing of former minister Pravin Gordhan after a battle with a dreadful illness.
The Small Business Institute (SBI) expresses its condolences to his family, friends and his political party. “During this difficult time for the Gordhan family, we wish them strength, and want them to know they remain in our prayers,” says John Dludlu, SBI’s CEO.
Gordhan’s activism started in the Natal Indian Congress, but quickly pivoted towards the broader struggle for a non-sexist, non-racist and democratic South Africa.
“His contributions to SA’s democracy and economy, particularly in support of small businesses, will be remembered and cherished,” says Dludlu.
Gordhan’s lifelong activism during pivotal moments in our nation’s history demonstrated a commitment to non-racism, democracy and an inclusive economy that fosters a conducive environment for the prosperity of small businesses.
“As we mourn his passing, we also reflect on his rich legacy with hope that the South Africa he fought so hard for is still achievable. We are committed to his work in advocating for policies that support the growth and sustainability of small businesses which are crucial for job creation in our country,” says Dludlu.
