To our members, affiliates, colleagues and friends

This special newsletter comes to you during a period of great uncertainty. Our health is at risk, our businesses are at risk, and the economy – already struggling due to load-shedding, devastating unemployment, and the effects of years of corruption – now must bounce back from a downgrade.

Someone recently said to me that it’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters in life. People in business – entrepreneurs – know this very well.  You always see opportunities where other mortals see challenges.

Make no mistake; this is going to be difficult. Liquidations have already been on the rise and many, many businesses, large and small, will close their doors in the next weeks and months. But with your leadership – for you are all leaders in your community – we can support each other, share resources, get up and try again tomorrow.

Below you’ll find a link to our web page which we continue to build as information becomes available, listing all of the resources we’ve come across and that you have shared with us (keep sharing!) to help SMEs during the State of Disaster.

We’ve also included links to interviews director Bernard Swanepoel and CEO John Dludlu have been doing in the media. Let us know if you have concerns we are not addressing. You can email leandre@smallbusinessinstitute.co.za

Fall seven times, stand up eight, says the proverb. Our association through SBI will help us stand together.
